There is a way to communicate peacefully, to connect to others when you think there is no peaceful way out. Peace is there for the asking.
The “training wheels” to learn peaceful communication, known by author Marshall Rosenberg as “nonviolent communication” includes the following steps:
1. Describe what you see and hear.
2. Determine how you feel.
3. Determine what you need.
4. Make a request.
This very simplified formula for peaceful communication requires more explanation for a deeper appreciation of how this kind of communication can work for you but the “training wheels” version is a great place to start and a good tool to call upon when you need an anchor to help you communicate peacefully.
